Choosing the Right Greenhouse or Potting Shed
The right greenhouse or potting shed depends on what you want to grow, how much space you have and how you plan to use it. From choosing the right glazing and ventilation to planning your working area and storage, there are a few important things to consider before deciding on a building. Explore the key features below to help you find a practical and attractive addition to your garden.
Glazing & Natural Light
Toughened safety glass provides a bright growing environment. Consider the greenhouse's position, surrounding shade and available daylight.
Ventilation & Temperature
Roof vents, automatic openers and optional side vents help manage airflow and growing conditions. Features vary across the Clearview ranges.
Staging & Storage
Plan your working space around potting benches, shelves, seed trays and storage, while allowing enough room to move comfortably.
Sizes & Garden Layout
Consider the available footprint, door access, pathways and the space needed around your building for maintenance.
Preparing for Greenhouse Installation
Choosing the right position and preparing your garden in advance will help ensure a smooth installation. From creating a suitable base to checking access for delivery, there are a few practical details to consider before your new greenhouse or potting shed arrives.
Prepare the Base
Your greenhouse or potting shed needs a suitable, level foundation. Confirm the required base dimensions and preparation with our team before arranging any groundworks.
Check Garden Access
Clearview buildings arrive in assembled sections, so consider gates, pathways, steps, tight corners and overhead obstructions along the delivery route.
Delivery & Installation
Professional installation is included in the supplied Clearview range. Base preparation and additional groundworks are separate unless included in your quotation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which greenhouse brand does WGB supply?
This range is from Clearview Garden Buildings. It includes Classic, Traditional and Luxury timber greenhouses, together with potting shed designs.
What is the difference between the Aylesworth and Chatsworth?
Both are part of the full-glass Classic collection. The Aylesworth is the narrower single-door model, while the Chatsworth is wider and has double doors. Both are available in different lengths.
Are potting sheds available as well as greenhouses?
Yes. The Oxfordshire and Cambridgeshire are Clearview potting shed models, combining a boarded side, glazing, staging and storage. The wider Cambridgeshire offers more internal space.
Do all models have the same staging and ventilation?
No. Classic Aylesworth and Chatsworth models have manual roof-vent stays, with automatic openers and staging available as extras. The Traditional range includes automatic Bayliss roof-vent openers and one staging bench. Buckingham has its own roof/side-vent, staging and shelf specification. The exact number and dimensions vary by size.
What base does a timber greenhouse need?
It needs a suitable level foundation matched to the manufacturer’s requirements and the chosen model. Confirm the base dimensions and preparation with WGB before arranging the work.
Where should I position a greenhouse?
Consider the available light, nearby shade, access, water supply and exposure, alongside the foundation needed for your chosen model. Leave room to open doors and maintain the building. Bring photographs or a simple garden layout if you would like help discussing the position.
Does pressure-treated timber need further care?
Yes. Clearview recommends ongoing treatment and care to prolong the building’s life. Treated timber can change colour as it weathers; a painted finish also has its own care requirements. Ask us about the guidance for the finish you choose.
